Winter Fun . . . Split Rocks Aquatic Center
The kids won't have to go far
this season to find the new Split Rock Pools, located at the southern end of the
Village across from Allegheny Springs. When you hear the soothing sounds of the
waterfall, you will know that you are there. Just like any great swimming spot,
Split Rock Pools is the perfect place for kids to splash around while making new
friends. With a geyser, water filled dumping whiskey barrel and slides, Split
Rock Pools is ideal for those who want to take some time off from the slopes.
But it's not just for the kids, with two large hot tubs and a sauna, Split Rock
Pools offers something for everyone.
Best Skiing in the Mid-Atlantic Nestled at 4,848 feet atop West Virginia's Allegheny Mountains, Snowshoe offers the best skiing in the Southeast. If you have skied Snowshoe, you are well aware of the challenges it offers; if you haven't, you have a winter treat awaiting you.
Shaver Lake from the top of Ball Hooter and Hootenanny slopes. Expert and novice skiers and snowboarders enjoy 57 slopes and trails which are served by 14 chair lifts, including 2 high-speed detachable quad lifts, 2 fixed quad lifts, and 7 triple lifts. In addition, 2 handle tows and a "magic carpet" lift serve Ruckus Ridge Tubing Hill. Total lift capacity is 22,500 skiers per hour. Whether you are a first time skier or a "hot dogger," you will find variety and challenge in Snowshoe's slopes. The
Western Territory's famous Cupp Run and its new sister slope, Shay's Revenge (double black diamond) with its 60%
pitch, drop 1,500 feet and run more than 1.5 miles. All slopes have 100 percent snowmaking.
